Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

ANPR operates very similarly to CCTVs. High definition infra-red cameras positioned at entry/exit points on a car park or designated area will capture vehicle number plates of all vehicles as they enter/exit the area. The evidence captured by the ANPR camera is then analysed and cross referenced against a large database of the permitted rules for that car park or area. If the rules of the car park are broken, then enforcement is carried out by way of a parking charge notice being issued to the registered keeper of the vehicle by post.
